Dr. Sarah Ivory (Penn State University) and her team of geoscientists - including colleague Dr. Mike McGlue (University of Kentucky) - spent several weeks in southern Oman exploring caves and wadis in search of the elusive Hyrax Middens.

Ivory and her team are trying to understand how the vegetation in the area has changed through time and how that affects the people that were here 4,000-10,000 years ago. The Hyrax Middens are one of the proxies - a geological record - of environmental change Dr. Ivory is studying.
